Create a New Season

The process of creating a new season will vary slightly depending upon which type of site structure your association’s sport website is using.  There are two types of structuring for Sport Ngin websites:

  • Solo Site – This most commonly means you have a collection of teams in your association you wish to track and manage, separated by age level, that play teams outside of your association that you are not tracking or managing.

  • League Site – Your association has groups of teams that play and are compared against each other in divisions/leagues.  Most commonly, statistics and standings are fully tracked for all teams, and the season is ultimately progressing to determine a league champion based either on standings or a playoff format.

Create a New Season (Solo Site)

STEP 1

Navigate to the team you wish to create the new season for and click into Edit Mode.
Please note, solo team instances must have a new season created for them on a team-by-team basis

STEP 2

Click on the Admin button and select "Seasons" from the dropdown menu.

STEP 3

Click on "Create New Season"

STEP 4

You will then be prompted to enter your Season and Subseason Name, then click "Create Season".

  • "Subseason name" is a label for the specific section of the season (Regular, Regular Season, Playoffs, Preseason). This allows coaches/managers the ability to keep data separated so that, for example, a preseason compilation of statistics is not included with and directly compared against an end-of-year tournament statistics.
  • "Season name" is usually a year (2012, 2012-2013). The use of years makes the historical tracking of teams much easier. You can also specify the seasonality in this area if you have more than instance of the sport  (e.g. “Fall Baseball” and “Spring Baseball” can be addressed as Season Name:  “2012-2013 Fall” with common subseasons such as “Preseason” or “Regular” within the “2012-2013 Fall” season.

STEP 5

After clicking "Create Season" you will be taken to the Tool Settings where you can specify Roster, Game Schedule, and Statistics configurations. Choose the specific statistics you wish to track.
Those left unchecked WILL NOT be an available option for statistic entry on games.

STEP 6

Once a season is created, it will appear as a selectable option in your “Seasons” tab.  Make sure the correct season is denoted as "current."
It is “selectable” via the “Current Subseason” radio button. Only one subseason can be identified as being “current,” and this setting will determine which subseason is loaded for members when they access the team page in question.

NOTE

You can toggle back to old seasons by using the drop down box in the upper right hand corner.
